Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This website is owned and run by yourLIFE.shop (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2017/349779/07), a South African company. We are the responsible party for the personal information we collect through www.yourlife.shop, by phone, email and WhatsApp, and for the records described below.

We also hold records from our group's businesses, past and present. These include customers, warranty registrations and enquiries for brands such as Beurer, Sanitas, TROIKA, Vagnbys, Venta, Kellermann, PearlCo and Thomas. Some of these records were kept under the name Eurocare Wellness, which is the same company as yourLIFE.shop (Pty) Ltd.

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with and what your rights are under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). It should be read with our Terms of Service.

2. What we collect and why

We use this information to perform our contract with you, to meet legal obligations, for our legitimate interest in running and improving the shop, or with your consent where the law requires it.

Giving us your information is voluntary, except where we need it to complete your order or the law requires it, for example tax and consumer law. If you do not give us your consent to marketing, nothing else changes for you.

We do not ask for special personal information, such as health information. Some of our products relate to health. We do not use your purchases to draw conclusions about your health, and we do not record health information.

We do not knowingly sell to or collect information from children under 18.

When you write a review, we show the name you give, with your surname shortened to its first letter. We never show your contact details. If you prefer, use "Anonymous" as your name.

3. Marketing

We send marketing emails and messages only:

to people who have said yes, by subscribing, ticking the box or answering our consent email; or
to customers who bought from us, about similar products, where they were given the chance to opt out when they bought.

If you are on our records but have not said yes, we may email you once to ask whether you want to hear from us, as POPIA allows. If you do not answer, we will not ask again and will not send you marketing. If you say no, we keep only your email address on a do-not-contact list, so that we never contact you again.

We usually send one or two marketing emails a week, and more around Black Friday and Christmas.

Our emails may show your own yourREWARDS points balance.

Every marketing message has an unsubscribe link. You can also email privacy@yourlife.shop to stop marketing at any time. Unsubscribing does not affect emails about your orders, deliveries or account.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

We share personal information only where needed to run the shop, with:

Shopify, the platform that hosts our store, checkout and customer data, and sends our emails;
an email checking service, to confirm addresses are valid before we send to them;
payment providers, to process your payment;
couriers and delivery platforms, to deliver your order;
Review and loyalty providers, for product reviews and loyalty rewards;
email, marketing and advertising platforms (such as Google and Meta), to send marketing and measure our advertising;
suppliers and brand distributors, where needed for a warranty claim or repair;
our auditors, accountants and legal advisers; and
authorities, where the law requires it.

These providers may only use your information to provide their service to us. Google and Meta also use information from their tools under their own privacy policies.

Outside South Africa. Some providers store or process information outside South Africa. Shopify uses servers in Canada and the United States. Our email checking service uses servers in the European Union. Google and Meta process advertising data in the United States and other countries where they operate, under their own data protection terms. We use only providers bound by data protection laws or contract terms that give protection substantially similar to POPIA.

Security. We limit access to people who need it, use encrypted connections on our website and checkout, and use PCI-DSS compliant payment providers. If your personal information is compromised, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

How long we keep it. We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires (for example, five years for tax records). Proof of your marketing consent is kept while we rely on it and for three years after. Records of privacy requests are kept for three years. If you said no or objected to marketing, we keep only your email address, permanently, so that we do not contact you again. If you did not answer our consent email, we will not ask again and will not send you marketing. After 12 months we delete the rest of your record and keep only your email address and the date we asked, so that we never contact you again, unless we need more for another reason, such as a warranty. Other information we no longer need is deleted or made anonymous.

5. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use three kinds:

We use analytics and advertising tools, including the Meta pixel and the Google tag. They record details such as the pages you visit, your device and, when you buy, your order value. We use them for our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used and measuring our advertising (POPIA section 11(1)(f)). You have the right to object at any time: block or delete analytics and advertising cookies in your browser settings, manage your ads through Google's My Ad Center and Meta's ad preferences, or email privacy@yourlife.shop.

6. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

ask whether we hold personal information about you, and for a copy of it;
ask us to correct or delete information that is wrong, out of date or no longer needed;
object to us processing your information, including for marketing;
withdraw consent you have given; and
complain to the Information Regulator.

To use these rights, email privacy@yourlife.shop. We will reply within 30 days, and may ask you to confirm your identity first.

If you are not happy with our response, you can complain to the Information Regulator at POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za or through inforegulator.org.za.
